Locations Used in Thicker Than Water
Some of the settings used in 'Thicker Than Water' are real places though the two most important, Sarclet Castle and Sarclet Broch, are both fictional, albeit based partly on real places. Sarclet Castle is loosely based on the Castle of Mey, transported from the north coast of Caithness to its east coast, with a great hall inspired by that at Eilean Donan Castle. Sarclet Broch is based on the Broch of Gurness in Orkney.
